The Isuzu brand has long been known as the only automotive brand in Indonesia that focuses on using diesel engines, not only in Indonesia but also globally. The Japanese manufacturer is also trusted by several other manufacturers to develop a diesel engine technology that is powerful but still efficient. So tough is their machine, making the price of the used Isuzu car high because it is sought after by many people.

For the passenger car segment, Isuzu now only has three models, namely Panther, MU-X, and D-Max. Each type of model is different following the segmentation that is much needed by the community. Starting from Panther in the form of a medium MPV, then MU-X in the form of an SUV and D-Max filled the double cabin pickup segment.

Panther is one of the legends of Isuzu’s life that still survives today. Unfortunately, the attention from manufacturers to the medium MPV is getting smaller. In fact, Panther has loyalist consumers who are pretty much because they believe in the durability of the car.

From the start, the Isuzu Panther was indeed presented as a family vehicle because of its capacity to accommodate up to 7 passengers. This car is present as Isuzu’s answer to the community’s need for a diesel engine that is not in the Toyota Kijang figure. The early generation Isuzu Panther (1991-1996) was equipped with a powerful 2.3 liter OHV 4-cylinder injection injection engine at 4,300 rpm. Then for the second generation to the latest, Panther uses a 2.5-liter OHV Direct Injection engine, which can spawn power up to 86 dk at 3,900 rpm.

In fact, the latest Panther output still uses an outdated 1DIN head unit. This makes some Panther users turn to Kijang Innova diesel engine which is more powerful and equipped with more modern features.

Panther is considered to be lagging behind its competitors because it doesn’t use the latest diesel engine technology. If rivals have used commonrail injection engine technology, Panther still uses direct injection technology.

The results can be seen, if the diesel engine that uses the common injection injection engine sounds more thirsty and lacks vibration, while for the old diesel engine the engine sound still sounds rough and the level of exhaust emissions is still high

Even though the features are outdated, the price of the new Isuzu Panther car remains high. Isuzu still offers the durability of a tough car and abundant spare parts. When compared to the Kijang Innova Reborn, the Panther price is now more affordable.

Isuzu MU-X

Isuzu berusaha tidak ingin ketinggalan pada segmen-segmen strategis dimana mereka unggul dalam sisi teknologi. Pada mobil SUV, Isuzu langsung merilis MU-X sebagai alternatif model Toyota Fortuner atau Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Harga mobil Isuzu yang satu ini cukup kompetitif dengan ciri khas mesin tangguh.

Isuzu MU-X mengincar kalangan keluarga, para penggemar kendaraan yang sanggup melibas semua kondisi jalanan,dan juga para pekerja yang membutuhkan kendaraan tangguh untuk menjalani rutinitas harian. MU-X sebenarnya adalah versi SUV dari D-Max yang sudah masuk ke Indonesia terlebih dahulu.

MU-X hadir dengan segudang teknologi mesin terkini dari Isuzu, termasuk commonrail yang tidak tersedia pada Panther.  Mesin turbodiesel MU-X dikenal cukup tangguh dan irit, karena disokong dengan teknologi yang sanggup menghasilkan daya dan torsi maksimal dalam setiap tingkat putaran mesin.

Isuzu MU-X mengadopsi mesin 4JK1-TC Hi-Power 4 silinder segaris, DOHC 16 katupdengan kapasitas 2.499 cc. MesinMU-Xjuga sudah dibekali dengan Turbocharge Intercooler VGS (Variable Geometry System),yang sanggupmenyemburkan tenaga136 PS pada putaran 3.600 rpm dengan torsi puncaknya mencapai32.6 kgm pada putaran antara 1.800-2.800 rpm.

Tidak berlebihan bila menyebut MU-X punya cita rasa Amerika yang cukup kuat.  MU-X berbasis dari Chevrolet Trailblazer karena Isuzu menjalin kerja sama pengembangan produk dengan General Motors.

Isuzu tak ingin ketinggalan mengisi kebutuhan SUV full size dengan menghadirkan MU-X pada pertengahan 2014 lalu. Saat itu di pasar Tanah Air, kebutuhan akan kendaraan berbasis SUV berbadan sedang juga semakin meningkat.

Berbeda dengan Fortuner yang digarap lokal, Isuzu MU-X diimpor secara utuh atau yang disebut dengan Completely Build-Up (CBU) dari Thailand. Selang tiga tahun setelah debutnya, Isuzu melakukan penyegaran pada MU-X di tahun 2017 lalu. Pada Mu-X 2017 ini, mengambil inspirasi dari burung elang. Dengan mata tajam yang diaplikasikan pada detail Mu-X.

Fascia baru didukung dengan lampu depan LED bi-function didukung auto-levelling. Bagian depan Mu-X baru sudah pedestrian impact friendly.  Fitur keamanan terbaru juga sudah dipergunakan, di mana perangkat elektronik pencegah benturan sudah terhubung pada kerangka baja bertekanan tinggi dengan panel pelindung samping.

Isuzu D-Max

Brand Isuzu yang kuat pada segmen kendaraan komersial tentu punya banyak pengalaman saat menggarap pickup double cabin. Untuk sarana transportasi di perkebunan dan tambang, butuh kendaraan serba guna untuk penumpang dan barang sekaligus. Inilah yang mendasari Isuzu memperkenalkan D-Max di Indonesia.  Isuzu juga memperbaiki kenyamanan D-Max agar nikmat saat dikendarai di area perkotaan.

Pada awal diperkenalkannya, Isuzu D-Max membidik para pengusaha yang bergerak di sektor perkebunan dan pertambangan. Namun, karena banyak yang  menggunakan mobil kabin ganda di kota besar, pasarnya pun sedikit digeser dengan mendesainnya agar bisa tetap nyaman dipergunakan di area perkotaan.

Awalnya, dapur pacu yang dicangkokkan pada D-Max di pasar Indonesia hanya satu jenis, yaitu mesin 3.0 liter dengan kode JH1. Mesin ini sanggup menghasilkan tenaga sebesar 130 dk pada 3.800 rpm, dengan torsi puncaknya mencapai 294 Nm pada 2.000 rpm.

Pada kisaran 2007, Isuzu melakukan facelift pada D-Max ke sektor dapur pacu. Kapasitas mesin yang digunakan masih berkapasitas sama dengan versi sebelumnya, tapi kode mesinnya diubah menjadi 4JJ1.

Perbedaannya terletak pada teknologi yang digunakan dimana terdapat tambahan Common Rail Direct Injection atau sering disingkat dengan CRDi. Dengan adanya teknologi ini, tenaga yang dihasilkan menjadi lebih besar yakni 146 HP pada 3.800 RPM, sementara torsi masih tetap sama.

Generasi kedua Isuzu D-Max diperkenalkan ke publik pada ajang Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2013. Facelift yang dilakukan berfokus pada ubahan desain eksterior diantaranya lampu depan, lampu belakang, bemper, dan penambahan gril beraksen krom.

Dibanding para pesaingnya, D-Max relatif nyaman untuk dikendarai diperkotaan atau tanpa muatan barang pada baknya. Suspensi model independent dan double wishbone juga mampu meredam guncangan dengan cukup baik dan empuk untuk ukuran sebuah truk ringan.
